Application Process (Please read all information provided below before applying)

1)   Apply online to become a Pasco County Schools Substitute
  • All applicants will be required to submit at least two references that each include name, phone number, and email address
  • Instructional substitute applicants will also be asked to upload the following:
    • College transcripts and/or copy of high school diploma or GED
    • Copy of your certification and/or statement of eligibility (if applicable)
    • NOTE:  College transcripts and/or proof of certification(s) must be provided in order to receive higher pay rates
2)   Make an appointment with FieldPrint Florida to have your fingerprints processed.
  • USE CODE: FPDSBPCEMP (Please do not use dropdown menu)
  • Send confirmation of your fingerprinting appointment to: subcentral@pasco.k12.fl.us
  • You will be notified once your fingerprints have cleared (typically 24-48 hours after your appointment)
3)   You will receive a “Next Steps” email from us upon receipt of your fingerprint appointment confirmation.  This email will include:
  • Hiring packet with required paperwork
  • Instructions on how to schedule your Onboarding Orientation
  • Information regarding the Online Substitute Training Program (Instructional only)
4)   INSTRUCTIONAL ONLY:  Complete the Online Substitute Training Program
  • You may complete the online training program prior to your fingerprints clearing; however, your fingerprints MUST be cleared before you are considered for employment.
  • Please note:  The Online Substitute Training Program is unpaid and required prior to consideration of employment.
5)   Attend an Onboarding Orientation at the district office in Land O’Lakes.  At this session, we will complete a “paperwork review” with you and answer any additional questions you may have.
 
6)    Following fingerprint clearance, successful completion of the Substitute Training Program (Instructional applicants), and onboarding orientation, you will be approved to substitute teach for the district.

Salary Information

Regular Instructional Substitute:
  • High school diploma or GED - $65.00 per day
  • Bachelor's degree or higher - $70.00 per day
  • Retired teacher or valid teaching certificate - $75.00 per day
Long-Term Instructional Substitute (after the 10th day):
  • High school diploma or GED or higher - $85.00 per day
  • Retired teacher or valid teaching certificate - $95.00 per day

PLEASE NOTE: Retired teachers must complete and submit the Retired Teacher Verification Form

Non-Instructional Substitute:
  • $8.05 per hour (effective 1/1/15)

Rates effective as of 3/2/2015 unless otherwise indicated

 

Instructional Substitutes

Instructional substitute positions include teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and Instructional Assistant ESE positions.  (All other Instructional Assistants are Non-Instructional subs)
“Please note that Instructional Assistant ESE subs are not eligible for long-term pay after the 10th day.”
 
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must possess a touch tone telephone and email address
  • Ability to work on short notice
  • Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of a substitute
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Successfully complete the District's Instructional Substitute Training Program
  • Effective August 4, 2014, all substitutes must work a minimun of four (4) days a month (to include at least one Friday) to remain active

 

Non-Instructional Substitutes

Positions may include:  Custodial, Food and Nutrition Assistants, Food and Nutrition Production Assistants, Instructional Assistants (exception: ESE IAs are paid as an Instructional substitute)

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a touch tone telephone and email address
  • Ability to work on short notice
  • Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of a substitute
  • Successfully complete the District's Non-Instructional Substitute Training Program
  • Effective August 4, 2014, all substitutes must work a minimun of four (4) days a month (to include at least one Friday) to remain active
