Effective August 4, 2014, Instructional Substitute Teacher applicants must work a minimum of four (4) days a month (to include a Friday) to remain active, and possess at least a high school diploma or GED.  To receive pay for Bachelors or above, transcripts must be provided to HREQ.

Salary Information

Instructional Substitutes with:
High School or GED - $56.35 per day (effective 1/1/15)
Bachelors degree or higher - $65.00 per day
Retired Teacher - $75.00 per day- Retired Teacher Verification Form
If you are placed in a Long-Term sub position (and only after the 10th day) - $85.00 per day
Retired Teachers placed in a Long-Term Sub Position - $95.00 per day

Non-Instructional Substitutes:
$8.05 per hour (effective 1/1/15)
 
Possible exceptions include substitute applicants for positions requiring specialized technical skills or expertise, such as:

  • Community, Career, and Technical Education (CCTE)
  • Public Service Education
  • Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration
  • Construction Technology
  • Business Systems & Technology
  • Digital Media Production
  • Health and Forensic Sciences
  • Foreign language speakers for a foreign language class
 

Note: The District School Board of Pasco County has a new sub dialer system called AESOP (through Frontline Technologies). Employees and Substitutes will be listed on the new Frontline-AESOP (Substitute Automatic Dialer) System, and will be given new access ID numbers as of August 18, 2014. Substitutes will also be able to accept jobs using AESOP's application on their smartphones call "Jobulator" (available on Apple and Android Store for FREE download). After a 30 day trial, fees may apply. Feel free to visit http://www.jobulator.com for additional information.

The new access ID and pin number will be issued by Frontline Technologies and each substitute will be responsible for changing his or her pin upon the initial login. That pin number must be at least 4 or 5 digits, and cannot be concurrent or in numeric order going forward or backwards (for instance, you cannot use 4444, 1234, 54321, or 4444).

To become a Non-Instructional Substitute in Pasco County Schools, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have:

  • Successfuly completed the application process
  • A touchtone telephone
  • The ability to work on short notice
  • The ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of a substitute.
  • Successfully completed the Substitute Training Program

Instructional Substitute Positions include elementary, middle, and high school teaching positions. Non-Instructional Substitute Positions Include Custodians, Food and Nutrition, Instructional Assistants at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and Pre-K Instructional Assistants at the elementary level.

Application Process

To become an Instructional Substitute, you must apply online.

Please remember that 2 reference forms must be sent to sub-central, as well as a  copy of your transcripts for BA or above or a high school diploma.

Once your application is complete, you will receive an invitation, via e-mail, to a sub training, which will include information about sub training registration and fingerprint appointments.

Following your one day training you will be approved to substitute.
