Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute employee with

Pasco County Schools

Application Process (Please read all information provided below before applying)

1)  Apply Online: You must complete an online application to be considered for Pasco County Schools Substitute. See below for more information on Instructional and Non-Instructional Subs, including the requirements and pay rate for each.

2)  Schedule an interview (Instructional ONLY): Candidates for Instructional Sub positions are required to interview with one of the district’s Human Capital Partners and be recommended for hire before they are able to become a substitute. Interviews are offered Tues-Thurs. Click here for instructions on how to schedule an interview.

NOTE:  Instructional sub candidates may proceed with Steps #3 and #4 before the actual interview; however, passing the background check and online training would not guarantee that you would be offered a position. Rather, this provides an option for shortening the timeframe to start working in the event you are offered a position. You may also want to verify the List of Acceptable Documents and bring these to the interview to complete an I-9 form if offered a position. This would avoid having to return to the District Office Complex in person to complete Step #6 below.

3)  Get Fingerprinted: Background screening is required for all employees before they are able to start working. Click here for instructions on how to schedule your fingerprinting appointment with FieldPrint. USE CODE: FPPascoEmp (Please do not use dropdown menu)

4)   Complete pre-employment training/orientation: Once your application is complete, you may take the corresponding class for Instructional or Non-Instructional Subs. Please note: Substitute Training is unpaid and required prior to consideration of employment.

Instructional Subs:  Sign up for the Online Substitute Training Program with EdTrainingCenter.  Click here for instructions on how to enroll.  Remember to save and/or print out the Certificate of Completion when you finalize the course. You will be required to present this when completing your hiring paperwork.

Non-Instructional Subs:  An orientation session will be held once per month at the District Office Complex  located in Land O’ Lakes from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Space is limited, please confirm your  reservation at 813-794-2947 or 813-794-2490. Fingerprinting needs to be completed before attending the orientation. Steps #5 & #6 below will be completed for Non-Instructional subs during this time as well. You will not need to attend a separate onboarding session to finalize the hiring process.

5) Complete your Hiring Paperwork:  Click here to open the electronic hiring paperwork you will need to complete and return.  These documents are needed to set up your employee record.  Once completed, return the packet to subcentral@pasco.k12.fl.us.  You will be sent a confirmation for an onboarding appointment upon receipt.  If you are having difficulty completing the hiring packet electronically, please email us at subcentral@pasco.k12.fl.us to request an onboarding appointment, then you may print out the packet, fill out manually and bring with you to your onboarding appointment. As a reminder, you will need bring supporting documentation for the I-9 to your onboarding session.  A list of acceptable documents can be found here:  http://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/acceptable-documents/list-documents/form-i-9-acceptable-documents

6)  Attend an Onboarding Session:  The final step for becoming a sub will be for you to attend an Onboarding Session at the district office in Land O’Lakes.  At this session, we will complete a final review of all required paperwork with you and answer any additional questions you may have.  You will also receive information to access AESOP (our online substitute system) and Employee Self-Service at that time.
