New this year is the Best and Brightest Principal Scholarship Program (F.S. 1012.732) for principals whose school faculty has a high percentage of classroom teachers designated as Florida’s best and brightest teacher scholars. This State funded program will be administered by the Department of Education and does not require prinicipals to complete an application. The District has no flexibility in changing the terms or timeline relative to this program.
The program shall provide categorical funding for scholarships to be awarded to school principals, as defined in s. 1012.01(3)(c)1., who have recruited and retained a high percentage of best and brightest teachers. Scholarship amounts are estimated at $4,000 for non-Title 1 principals and $5,000 for Title 1 principals.
February 1, 2019 - Deadline for FL DOE to identify eligible school principals
April 1, 2019 - Deadline for scholarship payments to qualified principals
How to Qualify
You must be a school principal as defined by Florida Statute 1012.731(4)(c) and served as a school principal at your school for at least 2 consecutive school years including the current school year
Your school must have a ratio of best and brightest teachers to other classroom teachers that is at the 80th percentile or higher for schools within the same grade group, statewide, including elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and schools with a combination of grade levels
You must be an active school principal with Pasco County Schools at the time of payment
How to Apply
The Florida Department of Education will administer the program and determine eligible prinicpals. No application is required.
