School Grades and Accountability

School grades provide an easily understandable metric to measure the performance of a school. Parents and the general public can use the school grade and associated components to understand how well each school is serving its students.  Schools are graded "A," "B," "C," "D," or "F".  Each school is graded based on the components for which it has sufficient data.  Schools must test at least 95% of their students.

The school grading system focuses the school grading formula on student success measures:

  • Achievement
  • Learning gains
  • Graduation
  • Acceleration success
  • Maintaining a focus on students who need the most support

“Accountability” means being held responsible for required results and showing the current status or accomplishments of a system toward reaching stated goals. Pasco County Schools operate under the legislative mandates of the State of Florida and comply with all Department of Education policies and procedures.
