Early Childhood Programs
Policy Council

Parents have a voice in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program by being elected as a representative for the Policy Council. Each Head Start/Early Head Start site, as well as the Early Head Start Home Based program has an elected parent representative. The Council also elects Community partners to attend.

Policy Council is a decision-making group that gives parents a meaningful role in deciding the direction of the program. They approve or disapprove many of the Head Start decisions such as program plans, budgets and hiring of staff. The Policy Council meets monthly.

Pasco County Early Childhood Programs, Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council typically meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month. The meetings are held at Pasco Safety Town (Home Depot building) at 15632 Alric Pottberg Road Shady Hills, 34610 beginning at 10:30 a.m. and adjourning by 12:30 p.m. Childcare, transportation, and lunch are available.
