Pasco Sheriff's 2015 Annual Food Drive

Sheriff Chris Nocco has announced the Pasco Sheriff's Office's annual Feeding Pasco's Kids food drive is now accepting both monetary and food donations. Like last year's event, the proceeds from the Feeding Pasco's Kids food drive will be given directly to local organizations whose mission is to provide support for homeless children and students. This year those recipients include Pasco County Schools, the Salvation Army, Sunrise Domestic Violence Shelter in Dade City, and St. Vincent de Paul Church in Land O' Lakes. According to the Pasco County Schools, there are more than 1,700 homeless children in Pasco County alone.  This includes those that are "doubled up," or living in another's household; living in shelters; or unsheltered. Monetary donations are accepted, and they are also looking for non-perishable boxed or canned food items, such as instant potatoes and canned vegetables. Please do not donate any food in glass containers, which break easily. Also, hygiene items for children, such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, and hair combs are accepted. There will be donation boxes placed in the lobbies of Pasco Sheriff's Office buildings beginning Monday, October 12. A number of area churches have also agreed to have boxes located in their buildings to assist in the collection of food. All donations must be received by Wednesday, December 9. If you would like to donate or have any questions about Feeding Pasco's Kids, please contact the Sheriff's Community Office at 1-813-994-3845, Monday - Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

My name is Shawna Wyman, and I have a child in Gulf Middle. I just wanted to take a few moments to tell you about one of your amazing staff members. Mr. Mark Myers is an absolute blessing! Before being in his class, my daughter really struggled in math. She would get so upset and frustrated. Often times, she put herself down and thought she was "stupid." This year, with the help and guidance of Mr. Myers, she is excelling in math! She actually loves it! She has confidence and is so proud of herself. We are just so very grateful to have such a wonderful, dedicated educator. He has made such a difference in our daughter's life. We are so grateful for him.

KUDOS to RRHS Dance Team Coach Lynn Vairo!  This past Saturday she traveled with the Dance Team to UCF so the girls could have the opportunity to perform in the halftime show. Coach Vairo has been the high school dance team coach for over ten years and does an amazing job. She spends countless, voluntary hours working with the team and their performances are spectacular. Many of our teachers go above and beyond their duties and I want to be sure she continues to get the recognition she deserves.  -Patty Joens, Principal Secretary, Gulf High School

The district website, forms site, and wiki are all now officially running on our new Windows Virtual Server farm. This move has been complicated and time consuming, but Brit Nold in the Office for Technology and Information Services has done a really great job getting this all set up, and working to make the sites run faster than ever.  We are very lucky to have Brit as our resident server expert!  -Richard MacLemale, District Website Coordinator
