The Academy of Medical Arts at Mitchell High School prepares students with broad, transferable skills, knowledge, and behaviors that lead to initial employment or to post-secondary training in the health occupations field. Participating students receive industry certifications, and participate in clinical training opportunities. Upon program completion, students can pursue employment opportunities or a post-secondary education. Depending on the focus of study, students can continue their education at many post-secondary institutions. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible for Gold Seal/Bright Futures scholarships.

Industry Recognized Certifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Nursing Assistance test measures an individual's knowledge of the core skills required of nursing assistants. Designed for all health care support professionals, this test covers the following topics: Basic Emergency Care, Basic Human Needs and Communication, Body Systems, Body Systems Disorders, Infection and Infection Control, Mental Health, Nutrition, Patient Care and Comfort, Role and Responsibility, and Vital Signs.

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)

Patient's medical record and office management skills; Appointment/ scheduling/ correspondence; and Mail management skills.
