Parents’ Bill of Rights

This post was created on 08/03/2022.

Pasco County Schools is committed to honoring the rights of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their minor children. As a result of recent changes in state law and the Parents’ Bill of Rights, our school district has developed policies and procedures to better inform and enable parents to make their wishes known regarding their child’s education, health, and well-being.

This school year, parents will be required to acknowledge and declare in writing whether they want their student(s) to participate in various specific educational opportunities and related activities, and whether their student(s) may be provided healthcare and other services available to them.

The required acknowledgments and consents are now viewable in the Parent Portal.  Additionally, there is a District website where parents can find additional information to assist in making an informed decision.
