Opening a Home Education Program

This is for Parent - Directed Home Education Only.

The parent shall notify the district school superintendent of the county in which the parent resides, of his or her intent to establish and maintain a Home Education Program. The notice shall be filed with the Student Services/Home Education Program office within 30 days of the establishment of the Home Education Program. Florida Statute, Section 1002.41 (1) (a).

The parent or guardian may submit an Intent to open a home education program with Pasco County Schools by clicking on the link provided below.

Click here to file a Letter to Open Home Education Program electronically, or submit a signed letter that includes the following information:

  • Student's legal First and Last Name
  • Student's Date of Birth
  • Parent/Guardian First and Last Name(s)
  • Phone Number
  • Residential Address and mailing address (if different)
  • Parent/Guardian email address (Optional)
  • Date the Home Education Program Began or Will Begin
  • This letter must be signed and dated by the Parent/Guardian

If requesting to transfer a Home Education Program from another Florida public school district, please also include:

  • District Name
  • Program Evaluation Due Date
    • The previous evaluation deadline will remain the same when transferring programs between counties in Florida
