Florida KidCare

This post was created on 12/04/2019.

For the first time in a decade, the number of uninsured children in our state has increased. Presently, there are more than 339,000 children without health insurance. That’s at least one student in every public school classroom. Countless studies have shown that students are more successful in the classroom and better learners if they have access to health and dental insurance.

Florida KidCare is the state of Florida’s very own high quality, low-cost health and dental insurance program for children from birth through the age of 18 for eligible families. There are four programs within Florida KidCare: Medicaid for Children (ages zero through 18), Medikids (ages one through four), Florida Healthy Kids (ages five through 18), and Children’s Medical Services Managed Care Plan (ages zero through 18 with special needs). Florida KidCare has open enrollment year-round, and parents can apply for free online at www.floridakidcare.org.
