CTE Career Pathways Opportunities:

  • Aerospace Technology

Hudson High School, Sunlake High School, Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Engineering & Technology Education career cluster. The purpose of this program is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study of Aerospace Technologies, with a focus on transferable skills as well as technological tools, machines, instruments, materials, processes and systems in business and industry.

  • Agriculture Biotechnology

Land O’Lakes High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster.  The content includes but is not limited to planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues.

  • Agriculture Communications

Hudson High School, Pasco High School, Wesley Chapel High School, Zephyrhills High School

 

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to in instruction animal and plant production and processing; agriculture marketing and communications; employability skills; mathematics; basic science; biological sciences; and human-relations skills.

  • Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology (HVAC)

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Architecture & Construction career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in the heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation industry.  The student should obtain EPA certification prior to leaving school in order to be employed in any job that requires work with refrigerants. The content includes but is not limited to designing, testing and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling (HVAC) systems.

  • Applied Cybersecurity

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Information Technology career cluster. The Cybersecurity program offers courses that prepare students for further education and careers such as cybersecurity analyst, security engineer, cybersecurity technician, data communication analyst, intrusion and detection analyst, security architect, or secure software developer in the Information Technology career cluster. The content includes the fundamentals of web-based programming, web databases, network security, installing, configuring, monitoring and securing networks in the LAN/WAN environment.

  • Applied Robotics

Sunlake High School and Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Engineering & Technology Education career cluster. The purpose of this program is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study of the principles and applications of robotics engineering and its effect upon our lives and the choosing of an occupation.  The content and activities will include the study of entrepreneurship, safety, and leadership skills.  This program focuses on transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of science and mathematics knowledge, technological tools, machines, instruments, materials, processes and stems related robotics.

  • Automotive Collision Technology

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster. The content includes, but is not limited to, basic trade skills, refinishing skills, sheet metal repair skills, frame and unibody squaring and aligning, use of fillers, paint systems and undercoats, related welding skills, related mechanical skills, trim-hardware maintenance, glass servicing, and other miscellaneous repairs.  This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the Automotive Collision industry; planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues.

  • Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair

Wendell Krinn Technical High School and Wesley Chapel High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster, focused on the Automotive industry including; planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues.

  • Aviation Maintenance

Hudson High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in the commercial and general aviation industry.  Instruction is designed to prepare students for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) license examinations for Airframe ratings.  Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 147 identifies minimum requirements for AMT schools.  This program prepares students for employment as an Aviation General Maintenance Technician Helper, and an Aviation Maintenance Technician with FAA Airframe Rating.

  • Biomedical Science

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Health Science career cluster focused on providing students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study and applications of biomedical sciences and the possibilities in the biomedical field. The content includes the study of human body systems, medicine, health, key biological concepts, communication, transport of substances, locomotion, metabolic processes, defense, protection, research processes, engineering principles and an introduction to bio-informatics.

  • Building Construction Technologies

Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Architecture & Construction career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in the building construction industry. The content includes applying construction techniques; reading plans and specifications; and developing trade skills in carpentry, masonry, electricity, plumbing and air conditioning.

  • Business Management and Analysis

Cypress Creek Middle/High School, Fivay High School, Gulf High School, J.W. Mitchel High School, Land O’ Lakes High School, Pasco High School, River Ridge High School, Sunlake High School, Wesley Chapel High School, Wiregrass Ranch High School, Zephyrhills High School

The content of this program includes the fundamental knowledge and skills related to business functions in the Business Management & Administration career cluster. Reinforcement of academic skills occurs through classroom instruction and applied laboratory procedures. Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practices.

  • Commercial Art Technology

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as artists and related workers, illustrators, and commercial designers. The content includes, but is not limited to, basic art skills, lettering skills, preparation of layouts and illustrations, preparation of camera-ready paste-up, and development of specialized skills.

  • Computer Systems & Information Technology (CSIT)

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Information Technology career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in a variety of occupations in the information technology industry. This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the information technology industry; technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, planning, management, finance, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues. The course content includes, but is not limited to, communication, leadership skills, human relations and employability skills; and safe, efficient work practices.

  • Cosmetology

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

A student completing the Cosmetology program is prepared for employment as licensed Hairdressers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists (SOC 39-5012).  Instruction is designed to qualify students for employment upon successfully obtaining a Cosmetology license. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in network support services positions. 

  • Criminal Justice

Cypress Creek Middle/High School, Fivay High School, and Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Law, Public Safety and Security career cluster. The content provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Law, Public Safety and Security career cluster.

  • Culinary Arts

Anclote High School, Fivay High School, Land O’ Lakes High School, Wendell Krinn Technical High School, Wiregrass Ranch High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Hospitality & Tourism career cluster. The content includes safe and efficient work practices, marketing a business in the hospitality industry, the relationship of food and science, organizational and planning skills related to catered events, sustainability of the industry, utilization of technology to enhance hospitality businesses, and many levels/types of food preparation.

  • Digital Cinema Production

J.W. Mitchell High School and Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Arts, A/V Technology & Communication career cluster.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students for initial employment in the Digital Cinema Production field as equipment operators, camera assistants, sound equipment operators, editing equipment operators, set builders, grips and lighting equipment operators and Visual Effect Artists. The content should include, but is not be limited to, communication skills, leadership skills, human relations and employability skills, safe and efficient work practices, and preparation to assume responsibility for overall production of digital video activities including:  scripts, lighting, camera operation, electronic news gathering, field/studio production, and video editing.

  • Digital Design

Hudson High School, J.W. Mitchell High School, Land O’ Lakes High School, Pasco High School, River Ridge High School, Sunlake High School, Wiregrass Ranch High School, Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Arts, A/V Technology & Communication career cluster.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment in the Digital Design industry as Information Technology Assistants, Production Assistants, Digital Assistant Designers, Graphic Designers, and Multimedia Designers. The content includes, but is not limited to, enhanced practical experiences in computer-generated art and text, graphic design, graphic production, digital design skills, preparation of digital layouts and illustrations, scanning, and the development of specialized multimedia presentations.

  • Digital Media/Multimedia

River Ridge High School, Sunlake High School, Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Arts, A/V Technology & Communication career cluster.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students for work as multimedia artists and animators. The content includes, but is not limited to, practical experiences in webpage design and interactive presentation development, testing and production.  Specialized skills in multimedia presentations such as video editing, audio features, and simple animation and authoring software are used to produce a variety of interactive multimedia presentations.

  • Early Childhood

Gulf High School and Land O’ Lakes High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Education & Training career cluster. The content includes, but is not limited to; competencies related to the following elements of the early childhood education industry:  planning, management, finance, technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor, community, health, safety, and environmental issues; and developmentally appropriate practices for children birth through age eight. 

  • Electricity

Pasco High School and Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Architecture & Construction career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in a variety of construction electrical industries. This program focuses on broad, transferable skills, stresses the understanding of all aspects of the electricity industry, and demonstrates such elements of the industry as planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues.

  • Emergency Medical Responder

Fivay High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Health Science career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues. Clinical learning experiences are an integral part of this program. This is an instructional program that prepares individuals to provide initial care to sick or injured persons or as ambulance drivers and attendants SOC 53-3011. An Emergency Medical Responder may use this training for employment.  The Emergency Medical Responder is the first to arrive at the scene of an injury but does not have the primary responsibility for treating and transporting the injured person(s). Emergency Medical Responders may include law enforcement, life guard, fire services or basic life support non-licensed personnel who act as part of an organized emergency medical services team. 

  • Engineering

Cypress Creek Middle/High School, Fivay High School, River Ridge High School, Sunlake High School, and Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Engineering & Technology Education career cluster.   • Finance

Anclote High School, Gulf High School, J.W. Mitchel High School, River Ridge High School, and Sunlake High School

The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their occupational goals in the Finance career cluster. The content includes instruction in elements of the financial industry: planning; management; finance; economics; technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor issues; community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues; risk management liability; and health, life, and disability insurance.

  • Fire Science

Fivay High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Law, Public Safety and Security career cluster and prepares students for employment as fire inspectors and investigators (SOC 33-2021), fire science technicians, fire officers, fire safety inspectors, fire assistants, safety inspectors, building inspectors, fire insurance investigators/inspectors, and fire fighters. This program does not prepare students for certification as fire fighters. A student must successfully complete the basic recruit program in firefighting to become certified, pursuant to Chapter 633, Florida Statutes.

  • Gaming and Simulation

Gulf High School and J.W. Mitchell High School

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in Game/Simulation Designer, Game Programmer, and Game Software Developer in the Information Technology career cluster. The content includes practical experiences in game/simulation conceptualization, design, storyboarding, development methodologies, essential programming techniques, and implementation issues. Specialized programming skills involving advanced mathematical calculations and physics are also integrated into the curriculum.

  • Hospitality and Tourism

Wiregrass Ranch High School

The Hospitality and Tourism program offers a sequence of courses that provide occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of this career cluster. The content includes coursework that prepares students for employment in the hospitality & tourism industry as reservation and transportation agents, travel destination specialists, tour operators, transportation attendants, cruise ship consultants, or to provide supplemental training for those persons previously or currently employed in these occupations. This program includes components on planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues.

  • JROTC (Air Force, Army, and Navy)

Anclote High School (Army), Fivay High School (Navy), Gulf High School (Navy), J.W. Mitchell High School (Navy), Pasco High School (Navy), and River Ridge High School (Air Force)

The JROTC curriculum includes course work on leadership, civics, geography and global awareness, health, and wellness, language arts, life skills, and U.S. history. The curriculum is based on the principles of performance-based, learner-centered education and promotes development of core abilities: capacity for life-long learning, communication, responsibility for actions and choices, good citizenship, respectful treatment of others, and critical thinking techniques.

  • Medical Skills and Services

Fivay High School, Gulf High School, J.W. Mitchell High School, Pasco High School, Sunlake High School, Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Health Science career cluster. The purpose of this program is to give students an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills related to the area of Health Science career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to practical generic skills in health occupations.

  • Nursing Assistant (Acute and Long-Term Care)

Fivay High School, Gulf High School, J.W. Mitchell High School, Pasco High School, Sunlake High School, Wiregrass Ranch High School, Zephyrhills High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Health Science career cluster. This course is designed to prepare students for employment as nursing assistants SOC- 31-1014 (Nursing Assistants) in nursing homes, hospitals, or other health care facilities. The content includes, but is not limited to, interpersonal skills, medical terminology, legal and ethical responsibilities, safe and efficient work, gerontology, nutrition, pet-facilitated therapy, health and safety including Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) – heart saver level, and employability skills.

  • Nutrition and Wellness

River Ridge High School and Wiregrass Ranch High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Hospitality & Tourism career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to selection, preparation, service and storage of foods. It allows students to use technology to practice meal management techniques directed toward nutritional food choices based on the life cycle. This course will provide an awareness of consumer issues relating to health and wellness. 

  • Outboard Marine Service Technology

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Transportation, Distribution & Logistics career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to the following: service, repair and overhaul of four-stroke and two-stroke cycle engines and outboard motors; and service and repair of boating accessories.  With regard to the above, course content will include electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, drive systems and boat and trailer rigging.

  • Pharmacy Technician

Hudson High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Health Science career cluster.  The content includes but is not limited to metric system, medical terminology, medicinal drugs, pharmaceutical compounding, USP 795 standards, sterile techniques, USP 797 and UPS 800 standards, maintenance of inventory, IV preparation, receiving and handling of hazardous materials, preparing purchase orders, receiving and checking supplies purchased, printing labels, typing prescription labels, delivering medications, pricing prescription drug orders and supplies, prepackaging unit dose packages, patient record systems, control records, data processing automation in pharmacy, computer application, employability skills, leadership and human relations skills, health and safety, including CPR. 

  • Principals of Teaching

River Ridge High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Education & Training career cluster.  The content includes but is not limited to competencies and skills needed to become a professional in the field of education.  This includes an understanding of education in the United States, the ability to work effectively with all students, educational technology, classroom management, student assessment, communication skills, and other skills needed to support the learning activities of students.  To be enrolled a student's status in school and schedule must allow sufficient time for the student to be able to complete the program.  The Teacher Assisting / Principles of Teaching program is designed to support teaching activities for students in classroom settings.  It is not a program to provide clerical support to faculty or office/administrative personnel.

  • Promotional Enterprise

Anclote High School

This program offers a sequence of courses that prepare the student for further education and careers such as an Information Technology Assistant, Custom Promotional Design Manager, First Line Supervisor, Small Business Manager, and General Operations Manager/Owner in the Business Management & Administration career cluster.  The content includes but is not limited to enhanced practical experiences in management of digital layout and design, production of embroidered apparel, direct to garment print, sublimation, specialty items and signs as it relates to the running and management of a digital imprinted merchandise business.  Development of specialized skills in production planning, design, layout, and evaluation of business promotional campaigns in the digital imprinted merchandise industry are critical components within the program.

  • Television Production Technology

J.W. Mitchel High School and Wesley Chapel High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Arts, A/V Technology & Communication career cluster.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students for initial employment as television production operators, television broadcast technicians, camera operators, other professional/para-professional technicians, video recording engineers, and audio recording engineers. The content includes, but is not limited to, communication skills, leadership skills, human relations and employability skills, safe and efficient work practices, and preparation to assume responsibility for the television production studio activities (e.g., scriptwriting, lighting, shooting and directing, electronic news gathering, and field production). 

  • Veterinary Assisting

Hudson High School and Pasco High School

This program offers a sequence of courses in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster.  The content includes but is not limited to broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the veterinary assisting industry: planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues. The program also provides supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed as veterinary assistants.

  • Web Development

Hudson High School

This program offers a sequence of courses that prepare the student for further education and careers such as an Assistant Web Designer, a Web Designer, and Senior Web Designer in the Information Technology career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to operating system commands and web document development, design, promotion and scripting.

 

  • Welding Technology

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in the welding industry. The content includes but is not limited to planning, management, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, as well as labor, community, health, safety and environmental issues.
