Career Dual Enrollment
What is Career Dual Enrollment?
Career Dual Enrollment allows eligible high school students to enroll in college-level career and technical education programs while earning both high school and postsecondary credit at the same time. Students gain hands-on skills, industry certifications, and a head start on a high-demand career pathway before graduating from high school, all while saving time and money on their future education. Students remain enrolled at their applicable high schools while accessing career certificate programs at Fred K. Marchman Technical College (FKMTC), Pinellas Technical College (PTC), or Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Eligibility Requirements for Career Dual Enrollment
To participate in Career Dual Enrollment, students must meet eligibility requirements established by the State of Florida and the partnering postsecondary institution. Students must:

Maintain a minimum 2.0 unweighted high school GPA.

Earned a level 2 or higher on most recent Math and ELA standardized assessments.

Maintain satisfactory academic progress and program performance throughout enrollment.

Develop skills in network security, ethical hacking, and digital protection while preparing for careers such as cybersecurity analyst, information security specialist, or network administrator.

Explore the science and technology of flight while preparing for careers such as aircraft mechanic, aviation technician, air traffic controller, or aerospace engineer.

Learn how to install, manage, and troubleshoot computer systems and networks for careers such as IT specialist, network technician, systems administrator, or help desk technician.

Gain hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered equipment for careers such as diesel technician, fleet mechanic, heavy equipment technician, or service manager.

Develop skills in video production, editing, and storytelling for careers such as videographer, film editor, producer, or multimedia specialist.

How do I apply for Career Dual Enrollment?
All students interested in attending a Career Certificate Dual Enrollment Program must apply to the applicable school location utilizing the Pasco Pathways School Choice Application.
All students interested, including zoned students, must apply to attend SLHS's Academy of Aviation and Aeronautics utilizing the Pasco Pathways School Choice Application.
