Liliana Gonzalez

Wendell Krinn Technical High School

Scholarship:

In all things, Liliana excels, but she especially excels in academics. Liliana works harder than most students and does not let events in her life impede her success. She constantly asks the tough questions and strives to answer them. Her diligence to her academics is apparent in her many awards, such as student of the year for Geometry Honors, Biology Honors, English I Honors, Principles of Biomedical Science, English II Honors, Anatomy & Physiology Honors, and Dual Enrollment U.S History. In addition to the job she maintains after school hours, and volunteering, Liliana maintains a 4.5 GPA. Liliana is a respected student amongst staff and her peers and is one of the first students chosen when a representative for the school is needed. She has served as a community ambassador for our Biomedical Sciences program since 2019.

Leadership:

Liliana is a leader amongst her peers. She is an officer in student council, representing her classmates as secretary for the past two years and as a representative before that. She ensures every voice is heard, and advocates for the wants and needs of the student body. In addition to her role in student council, she is a leader in the Biomedical Science program and has been since her freshman year. Liliana has been the HOSA Club President for the past two years after starting the club as the secretary/treasurer in her 10th grade year. She organizes community and school events and helps her classmates reach their potential by helping them prepare for competition. In addition to Liliana’s school leadership, she is the president of the WKTHS School Advisory Council for the 21-22 school year. Her role on this council is integral to the success of KTech and the ability of SAC to fund exciting and rigorous projects.

Service:

Liliana volunteers outside of school and is continually trying to be a part of her community. Being the president of HOSA, Liliana has organized and run three blood drives so far and has three more scheduled for this school year. This is a major undertaking that results in many donations that go on to save many lives. Liliana was the 2021 Anne Frank Humanitarian Award recipient. She was awarded this recognition for efforts to better the lives of other individuals or groups both inside and outside of school activities. Liliana also participates in Special Olympics and has volunteered with her school organization since her 9th grade year. Every year during the holidays, she volunteers with Toys for Tots and Metropolitan Ministries to help local families.

Citizenship:

Liliana has 85 hours of community service that she has earned from volunteering with Toys for Tots, Metropolitan Ministries, participating in school events, and organizing HOSA events such as OneBlood blood drives. In addition to her numerous volunteer hours, Liliana maintains a job in her community. She works at a local restaurant and at a tutoring center.
