Pasco County Schools to Close Monday through Wednesday Due to Tropical Storm Milton

Pasco County Government is issuing a mandatory evacuation for Zone C in Pasco County as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida.  Life-threatening storm surge and hurricane force winds are expected to impact Pasco County later this week.

Pasco is also opening an additional shelter, Tuesday, October 8 at 9:00 a.m.:

All Schools and District Offices will now be closed to the public, and all events and activities will be cancelled through Friday, October 11, 2024.

Pasco County Schools has announced that all schools and district offices will be closed through Friday of this week due to the upgrade of Tropical Storm Milton to a major hurricane. The district's priority is the safety of students, staff, and the community.

All other school activities, athletic events, and extracurricular programs are also canceled through Friday. Pasco County Schools will remain in close communication with local emergency management and continue to monitor the situation as the storm approaches.

Due to the closure of schools this week, students will now attend school Monday through Friday of next week. Monday and Tuesday were previously identified as teacher planning and training days. Students will now be off on Monday, October 21, 2024, for teacher planning.

Families and staff are encouraged to complete their storm preparations and follow the guidance from local emergency management officials. The district will provide updates as needed, and information will be shared through the district website and social media channels.

Pasco County is opening hurricane shelters for anyone who needs to leave their home ahead of Hurricane Milton and has nowhere else to stay.  All shelters are accepting family pets.

(Updated 10/4/24) Pasco County Schools will be closed on Monday through Friday of this week in response to Tropical Storm Milton, which is expected to strengthen into a hurricane and may make landfall in our area. The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority.

As a precaution, all before and after-school activities, athletic events, and extracurricular programs are also canceled until further notice. The district is in constant communication with Pasco County Emergency Management and will continue to monitor the storm’s progress.

We encourage all families to begin storm preparations now and to follow the guidance of local emergency officials. Please stay tuned to the district website and social media channels for updates and further information.
