Pasco Schools Graduation Rate Best Among Area Districts

This post was created on 01/13/2023.

The Pasco County Schools 2021-2022 graduation rate of 90.2 percent continues to exceed the state average and is the best among Tampa Bay area school districts.

Pasco’s graduation rate slipped by less than one percentage point compared to last year’s rate (from 91.0 to 90.2 percent). That slight decrease reflects a statewide trend, and many districts experienced significant decreases. The state graduation rate dropped by nearly 3 percentage points, from 90.1 to 87.3 percent. (See scores for the state and Tampa Bay area districts below.) Still, the Pasco graduation rate and the state rate exceeded the pre-pandemic rates.

Taking the long view, Pasco’s graduation rate is evidence of steady progress. Since 2013, Pasco’s graduation rate has improved by more than 14 percentage points.

“Despite the challenges our students experienced in recent years, we continue to see steady progress year after year,” said Superintendent Kurt Browning. “All our teachers in elementary, middle, and high school can share the credit because we know that it takes a team effort to prepare students for college, career, and life.”

Highlights in Pasco include Gulf High School, which improved by more than 5 percentage points, from 85.7 to 91 percent, and Wendell Krinn Technical High School, which led the way with a 98.1 percent graduation rate, up from 96.4 the previous year.
