Pasco Hosts Family Forums on Assessments

This post was created on 02/24/2023.

Florida’s all-new testing system is the topic of Pasco Schools’ latest Superintendent’s Family Forums to be held Monday, February 27, and again on March 6.

The forums on Assessments are the latest in a planned series of meetings in which Superintendent Browning and school district officials discuss topics of interest to parents and the public in general. The first set of forums on the topic of School Safety attracted parents interested in knowing what the district is doing to keep campuses safe. An additional forum on School Safety is being planned in Central Pasco in late March.

The latest round of forums will address state testing, including the state’s new Florida Assessments of Student Thinking (FAST) assessments, which represent a dramatic departure from the state’s previous testing program. Unlike Florida’s previous end-of-year testing programs, FAST is a progress-monitoring assessment, where students are tested three times during the school year.

Parents can choose from two breakout sessions: Exploring Early Learning and Elementary Assessments, and Digging into Secondary Assessments. For more details and to sign up for a spot in one of the two breakout sessions, visit the scheduling page at https://superintendentsfamilyforum2.sched.com/ .

Refreshments will be available and child care will be provided for children ages 4 through 10.
