The Mensa Education and Research Foundation, founded in 1971, is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization funded primarily by gifts from Mensa members. The Mensa Foundation works to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity and to encourage research into the nature, characteristics, and uses of intelligence. Among the Mensa Foundation's major programs is its scholarship program, which annually gives more than 100 awards based on the merit of a short essay submission.

Essays can be submitted online, at www.mensafoundation.org, between October 7, 2019 and January 15, 2020.
