Amended Notice of Special Telephonic School Board Meeting/Workshop

In consideration of the current health and safety concerns for our community; the various emergency executive and administrative orders entered by Federal, State, and Local Governmental authorities; in order to continue to perform essential functions in a manner consistent with law and board policy; and to continue to provide governmental transparency as well as reasonable opportunities for the public to access and participate in the decision making process, the School Board will modify its meeting and public participation process during this time of emergency as follows:

        1. Meeting schedule: A Special Telephonic School Board Meeting/Workshop remains scheduled for June 30, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the direction of the Superintendent and School Board Chair under the authority of §1001.372(1), Fla. Stat. (2004).  The agenda will be published seven days in advance on the Pasco County Schools website at https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/school_board/agendas-summaries-minutes.

        2. Meeting Procedure and Access Points: The topics of this meeting/workshop are matters related to COVID-19 and the ReOpening of Pasco Schools for the 2020-2021 school year.  Under the authority of Executive Order 20-139, Section 6; Executive Order 20-69; and School Board Bylaw 0132, a quorum of School Board members will participate via operator guided conference call. Information regarding the opportunity for the public to hear a live audio stream and participate in the meeting is as follows:

Internet access to agenda and audio stream of meetings: School Board agendas are published seven days prior to meeting at https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/school_board/agendas-summaries-minutes.  The  meeting  will  be  live-streamed audio on our  district website at https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/

a. Access point for written participation: In order to facilitate participation by individuals who are subject to quarantine or self-isolation measures, members of the public may participate in writing electronically through Public Comment or by U.S. mail delivery to the School Board addressed to: Public Comment, Pasco County School Board, 7227 Land O’Lakes Boulevard, Land O’Lakes, Florida 34638. In order to be considered prior to Board action, these comments must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Monday preceding the board meeting. Comments must contain the name and address of the submitter, as well as the specific agenda item to be addressed (if applicable). Consistent with School Board Bylaws, the Board’s review of the content of such comment may be limited to 400 words.

b. Access point for live telephonic participation: Alternatively, conference call telephone lines will be made available for members of the public to call into the special meeting/workshop. The telephone line number for such participation 1-877-271-1828, passcode 50619 and specific instructions regarding the call shall be provided.

c. THERE WILL BE NO ACCESS POINT FOR IN PERSON PARTICIPATION AT THIS MEETING.

PARTICIPATION WILL BE SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE SCHOOL BOARD BYLAWS AND POLICIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, CIVILITY AND LENGTH OF STATEMENTS AND PUBLIC COMMENT SEGMENTS.

NOTICE: If a person intends to appeal the board's decision with respect to any matter, or has any thought that an appeal may be taken, the person has the responsibility to ensure that a verbatim (word for word) record of the proceeding is made and that the record includes all testimony and evidence upon which an appeal is to be based.
