WHAT: Annual “Step Up for Pasco Kids” - Prominent area leaders teamed up to collect thousands of shoes and hundreds of backpacks to be delivered to needy children in Pasco County, just in time for the start of the school year.

WHERE: Pasco Schools District Office, at 7227 Land O’Lakes Boulevard, Building 3, (Turn on Gator Lane. Building 3 is the first building on your right. Park in the first parking lot on your right and follow the signs to “Shoe Donation Event.”)

OVERVIEW: The donation of scores of shoes and backpacks has been spearheaded by Jacques Hakim, an area businessman, philanthropist, and Professor of Finance at St. Petersburg College. Hundreds of boxes of shoes will be on display. Those involved will be on hand to talk about the effort and what it means to children in Pasco County.

WHO: Jacques Hakim; Mike Wells, Pasco County Property Appraiser; and Representatives from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, YMCA of the Suncoast, FBI Tampa Field Office, and Pasco Schools.
