Responsible for performing advanced, specialized, complex duties related to compensation administration and position control maintenance.


The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Audit and/or review personnel transactions pertaining to changes in job classification, compensation, or other related changes to monitor compliance with existing policies and procedures and ensure accuracy of changes, making recommendations for changes as appropriate.
  2. Collaborate with management staff on the creation or modification of job descriptions, maintain updated job description files, and prepare related documentation for Board approval.
  3. Assist with determination of appropriate pay for new and/or reclassified positions.
  4. Develop and prepare a variety of reports or queries for ongoing customer needs; and prepare salary histories as requested.
  5. Participate in salary surveys with other school districts, government agencies, and private organizations, and analyze data from survey sources to determine internal and external competitiveness.
  6. Participate in the gathering and compiling of information for use in the collaborative bargaining process with union organizations.
  7. Participate in activities relating to Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance issues.
  8. Coordinate, update, and maintain organizational charts, and assist with activities related to reorganizations.
  9. Assist with the research, design, modeling and implementation of compensation plans that comply with federal and state requirements and regulations.
  10. Update and maintain pay related control records within the district employee data system.
  11. Update and maintain the departmental website with related information.
  12. Provide back-up for position control management and assist as needed.
  13. Assist with annual compensation management activities, including compiling data, preparing reports, updating related system information, and auditing changes for accuracy.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to analyze data to make data-driven decisions
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders


  • Associate degree or equivalent (2 years of college coursework)
  • Experience in human resources, data analysis or related field
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position




  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience performing position audits and/or performing compensation related activities
  • Knowledge of compensation practices and related federal, state and local laws and regulations 
  • Excellent Excel skills




Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
