JOB GOAL

Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the distribution, mail, and resource recovery and recycling centers. This includes assigning tasks, assisting with the development of routes and schedules, maintaining accurate departmental records, and driving designated routes each day to pick up and deliver interdepartmental mail, equipment, and supplies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Organize and plan daily tasks for courier staff, including delivery schedules, route assignments, and loading/unloading trucks.
  2. Assist with preparing, processing, and sorting all interdepartmental mail, US mail, and various parcels to ensure effective and efficient deliveries to and from all work sites.
  3. Assist with organizing and loading materials for daily courier truck deliveries.
  4. Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of a large variety of supplies, materials, and equipment to support efficient operations of schools and district departments including any associated paperwork.
  5. Assist with the department’s strategic planning by contributing data related to overhead costs, productivity, and system improvements.
  6. Maintain daily records regarding productivity and accountability for department.
  7. Maintain security and confidentiality related to all couriered materials and documents.
  8. Deliver required supplies to schools and shelters during emergency situations or inclement weather.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • General geographical knowledge of the county
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs and ability to effectively use technology in daily work, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • General office skills, such as typing, data entry, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse and delivery experience
  • Mail room experience to include postage meter monitoring, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Forklift experience
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Assist with supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and assist with interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
