About GED® Ready

GED® Ready tests are designed to assist individuals in evaluating their preparedness for taking GED® exams. These practice tests cover four key subjects: mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts.

In Florida, individuals aged 16 or 17 must complete and pass all four of the GED® Ready tests at an approved testing center before proceeding to the official tests.

Cost Savings

Retaking GED® exams can be expensive, so using GED® Ready practice tests can save individuals time and money by confirming their readiness for the official tests.

Each practice test costs $6.99. If you opt to take all four GED® Ready practice tests, the cost will be approximately $22.99.

GED® Ready tests must be purchased at GED.com before scheduling the practice tests at a testing center.

Prompt Feedback

Those who take GED® Ready practice tests receive their scores on the same day, with the possibility of accessing an Enhanced Score Report in as little as one hour. This report assists in identifying areas where an individual may need improvement.

Duration of GED® Ready Tests

The GED® Ready tests vary in length, ranging from 35 to 90 minutes. They are designed to be half the length of the regular GED® exams for each subject. The GED® Social Studies test is the shortest at 35 minutes, while the GED® Science test takes 47 minutes. The GED® Mathematical Reasoning test requires one hour, and the GED® Reasoning Through Language Arts test takes an hour and a half.

Comparison of Practice Scores with Official Test Scores

Your performance on GED® Ready practice tests provides an estimate of your potential results on the official GED® tests. For example, scoring between 145 and 200 points on a test suggests a likelihood of passing the actual exams. Scores of 144 or below indicate the need for additional preparation.

To obtain your GED®, you must achieve a minimum of 145 on each subject area test. However, an added benefit beyond passing the GED® exam is earning a College Ready or College Ready + Credit designation. Scoring 165 or higher will result in a GED® College Ready designation that may result in placement testing exemption.  A score of 175 or higher qualifies you for the GED® College Ready + credit designation that may result in the exemption of certain courses. For more detailed information regarding college credit designation programs, please visit GED® College Ready
