What is a Technical High School?

Wendell Krinn Technical High School and Kirkland Ranch Academy of Innovation are dedicated magnet schools whose mission is to build a better tomorrow by cultivating the academic and technical skills that prepare our students for success along their chosen pathways.

Wendell Krinn Technical High School (K-TECH), along with Marchman Technical College, provide students in West Pasco access to 13 different technical education programs, including auto service, biomedical sciences, commercial art, computer systems, cosmetology, culinary arts, cybersecurity, digital cinema, electricity, HVAC, marine service, robotics and welding. In addition, WKTHS students have access to more academic dual enrollment courses on campus through Pasco-Hernando State College than any other high school in Pasco County. Additionally students will have access to career dual enrollment within 6 select courses offered through Marchman Technical College.

Kirkland Ranch Academy of Innovation (KRAI) is set to provide students in East Pasco access to 10 different technical education programs, including applied cybersecurity and computer science principles, automotive maintenance and light repair, biomedical sciences, building trades and construction technology, diesel maintenance technology, digital media/multimedia design, electricity, engineering and applied robotics, patient care technician, and welding technology fundamentals.

How do I apply to attend a Technical High School?

All students who would like to attend WKTHS or KRAI must apply through the Pasco Pathways School Choice application process and meet the specified eligibility criteria for entrance. The recommended entrance criteria for the programs is a 2.0 or higher GPA as well as proficiency on the ELA and Math district and/or state assessments.

Hub bus stops will be provided for students living more than 2 miles from the school. Hub stops will be located at district school sites. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from the designated hubs, or directly to the school. There are no neighborhood stops for WKTHS or KRAI. All students will be eligible for transportation, except for students living within 2 miles of the school, unless based on statute, or hazardous walking conditions exist as defined by Florida Statute 1006.23.
