This open enrollment program is designed for adults whose first language is not English and who desire to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading, and/or writing. Students that attend classes may receive instruction in the following areas:
Classes are offered in a scheduled, classroom environment with progressive (beginning, intermediate, and advanced) levels of instruction that includes grammar structure, reading, writing, listening, speaking, and living skills to help the non-English speaker familiarize themselves with the English language and build the skills needed for many areas of American life, including entering the job market, building and/or enhancing workforce communication, everyday communication, and/or continue their education.
Students are encouraged to enroll in other academic and vocational classes upon completion of ESOL classes.
Students must be 18 years of age or older and formally withdrawn from a regular high school program.
Enrollment in English for Speakers of Other Languages courses will be assessed at the State-mandated tuition of $30 per term.
New students will take the CASAS exam to be evaluated in basic reading and listening skills before enrollment to determine proper educational placement in classes.
