Land O’ Lakes, FL – (May 8, 2020) – Pasco County leaders are joining together to support a curbside food drive on Saturday, May 9, to benefit needy families in Pasco County.

The food drive to collect non-perishable food items will take place at the Sam’s Club of Wesley Chapel at 27727 SR 56, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This is the second curbside food drive on consecutive weekends. The first took place last Saturday at the former site of a Target store near the corner of SR 54 and the Veterans Expressway. It was a huge success as an estimated 300 vehicles stopped by to donate what they could.

The goal of the curbside food drive is to collect non-perishable items – make-a-meal items such as canned goods, rice, pasta, and instant potatoes; as well as healthy snacks such as peanut butter, jelly, crackers, cereal, and granola bars. Volunteers at the collection sites will be practicing social distancing. Members of the public will be encouraged to place donated items in a box or bag, and place it in their trunk. When they arrive at the donation site, they will be directed to pop open the trunk and volunteers will do the rest.

The food drive also will accept monetary donations through the Pasco Education Foundation at www.PascoEducationFoundation.org. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to feed needy families in Pasco County.

Checks can be made payable to:
