SSPS:Independent Educational Evaluations

From Pasco Public Knowledgebase
Jump to: navigation, search

Parents have the right to obtain an independent educational evaluation (IEE) of their child if they disagree with the evaluation conducted by the school district. If parents request an IEE, the school district must provide information about where they may obtain an IEE and about the school district’s criteria that apply to IEEs.

Definitions

An IEE means an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the school district responsible for the education of the child.

Public expense means that the school district either pays for the full cost of the evaluation or ensures that the evaluation is otherwise provided at no cost to the parent.

Parental Responsibilities

The parent’s responsibilities in regard to IEEs include but may not be limited to:

  • Submitting a request in writing for an IEE
  • Completing and returning all required documentation
  • Selecting an evaluator in accordance with the policies outlined above
  • Scheduling an appointment for evaluation after the SSPS Bookkeeper has finalized paperwork with the evaluator(s)
