Welcome to Staff Development

The District School Board of Pasco County’s vision document, Pasco’s Vision: A Community of Connected Schools, supports a continuous, flexible professional development program that establishes lifelong learning as a valued expectation for all administrative, instructional and support staff. Participation in professional development results in the use of innovative, effective and efficient strategies focused on specific work requirements, successful teaching practices, and/or leadership behaviors. This occurs in a wide variety of delivery formats such as coursework (college or adult education), engaging workshops, online or electronic media, job-embedded study groups, action research groups, etc. Demonstration of learned skills, behaviors, and strategies positively impacts student performance and organizational growth.

Employees should check with their supervisor about training needs that are either required or voluntary and support their current positions.

The Staff Development Department:

      Coordinates the design, delivery, and evaluation of professional development for the District School Board of Pasco County.
      Coordinates with schools and other departments, to provide comprehensive professional development that enhances and improves the knowledge and skills of employees.
      Manages the Master Inservice Plan and inservice records for the District.
      Oversees the Alternative Certification Program.
      Oversees the National Board Certified Teachers’ application process, mentoring, and recruitment.
      Supports and provides districtwide coaching for Florida’s Professional Development Protocol Standards.
      Coordinates New Teacher Induction and mentoring support.

Professional Development provides for consistent and pervasive use of best practices AND develops a sense of district pride.
