School Nutrition Association of Pasco County


The School Nutrition Association of Pasco County (SNAP) is a local association affiliated with the National School Nutrition Association (SNA) and the Florida School Nutrition Association (FSNA). We are a member of SNA, which is the only professional association dedicated solely to the support and well being of school nutrition professionals in advancing good nutrition for all children.

Membership

Pasco County employees are encouraged to be the voice of child nutrition. We are proud of our profession and the work we do to help build a healthier student body. Your participation in SNAP can help motivate others, inspire tomorrow’s child nutrition leaders, and change the face of child nutrition in Florida, the United States and around the world.

Three different membership types are available:

  • Level Three: National School Nutrition Association Member
  • (this includes state and local chapter membership)
  • Level Two: Florida School Nutrition Association Member
  • (this includes local chapter membership)
  • Level One: Pasco County School Nutrition Association Member
  • (local chapter membership only)

Benefits of Membership

  • Professional Credibility and Image-FSNA and SNA strive to ensure a positive image of school food service by being child nutrition spokespersons. In one year, SNA handled over 260 media inquires and tracked over 2,300 articles relating to Child Nutrition programs.
  • Scholarships-Members are eligible to apply for several scholarships in adult education; undergraduate, lower and upper division courses. These scholarships can help finance continuing education through the Florida School Food Service Foundation (FSFS). Other opportunities include the GED Jumpstart, Schwan’s Food Service and Nancy Curry Scholarship.
  • Publications-Information through FSNA’s publication, School Food in Florida, and SNA’s award-winning magazine, School Nutrition, and website, offering resources, tools and the updated information on all the latest issues affecting the school nutrition industry.
  • Training-education through a variety of professional development programs, academic assistance and coursework online, including a certification and credentialing program.
  • Insurance Discounts-SNA members can receive 8% off car insurance through GEICO. Call 800-841-3000 and tell them you are a member of the School Nutrition Association.
  • New Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit-All FSNA members receive a $3,000 accidental death and dismemberment benefit AT NO COST! Contact Carmella Stroud of American Income Life at 850-445-8898.
  • Health Insurance Supplement-As a member of FSNA and SNA you can receive health insurance benefits. Visit http://www.floridaschoolnutrition.org and select the coverage that is right for you. Then, call the FSNA office to get the link to sign up.
  • Adventure Park Discounts-Receive discount tickets to Busch Gardens, Sea World, Adventure Island, Sesame Place and Water Country USA. Also, discounts to Universal Studios are available to Florida members.
  • Public Awareness-Utilize promotional and marketing materials available from SNA’s member’s only website to help promote your program, plus an annual online promotional calendar is available for planning events during the school year.

Bucks for Bucs! Fundraising Opportunity
Be a part of this year’s fundraising opps and earn points to help pay your way to the Florida School Nutrition Association State Conference.  Volunteers are needed to help serve Buccaneers fans on the club-level (air-conditioned) at Raymond James Stadium during home games. Region V Seminar
Join us for the Region V Seminar, celebrating leaders who rock on Saturday, October 16, 2010.  We have an entertaining speaker/entertainer, Dave Timmons, who will be using music to share his thoughts on “Leaders Who Rock!  4 Secrets to Make a Healthy Impact at School and Beyond”.  Plus, you will have the opportunity to choose to attend 2 of the 6 great interest sessions that will be offered covering topics from School Gardening to Customer Service to Yoga!

This is a great opportunity for a day of professional development, fun, food, chances to win some great prizes, and networking for only $15 (includes both lunch and continental breakfast).
