Who: The Florida Orchestra and Pasco County Schools students
What: One Giant Leap: 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing performances in Pasco
When: 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, at The Center for the Arts at Wesley Chapel, and 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 16, at The Center for the Arts at River Ridge
Why: On July 20, 1969, humans walked on the moon for the first time. The Florida Orchestra is celebrating the 50th anniversary of this historic moment.
How: Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas music teachers developed a curriculum guide with the Florida Orchestra and these youth concerts are the culmination. This youth concert explores space travel and music about the skies above. The concert will feature stunning visuals from NASA’s exploration of the lunar surface and introductions to the instrument families of the orchestra. Students will explore America’s journey to space through the music of Mozart, Strauss, Holst, and others, and will interact with the orchestra during the concert through movement and singing.
