Administrative Selection

Pasco County Schools use a pool process for school-based administrative positions for both principals and assistant principals.  To be eligible to apply for an advertised school leader opening, applicants must already be in the appropriate pool.

  1. Principal and Assistant Principal Pools are advertised at least twice per school year (August and December/January). Applicants respond by letter indicating their interest.  The Department of Human Resources verifies credentials to ensure applicants meet requirements.
  2. Applicants submit requested written information.
  3. Applicants complete a written assessment.
  4. Trained Pasco administrative teams screen written material.
  5. Successful applicants participate in three separate Targeted Selection interviews on a scheduled day.
  6. Successful applicants participate in Superintendent level interviews.
  7. The process typically takes four months with events scheduled approximately every three to four weeks.

Applicants are offered an opportunity for feedback.

For district-based positions, advertisements are posted on our website as needed.  Most positions are filled using a similar administrative selection process; however, the length of time may be shorter.
