Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Magnet Theme

 

The Student Magnet Theme Application window for Bayonet Point Middle School and Centennial Middle School will be open December 15, 2016 through January 20, 2017.

 

Families may submit an application during this time period.  Be sure to carefully read the Agreement of Understanding below before proceeding to the Student Magnet Application.  Incomplete and/or inaccurate information may prevent an application from being processed. 

Students currently enrolled at Bayonet Point Middle School or Centennial Middle School do NOT have to re-apply, unless they live outside of Pasco County!

PLACE services are not available at the middle school level.

NOTE:  We anticipate email notification of enrollment results to parents on FEBRUARY 10, 2017.

**Students currently enrolled at Bayonet Point Middle School or Centennial Middle School, and/or students who live within the schools' attendance zones, do NOT have to apply through the magnet student application process.

Students who live outside of the attendance zones for BPMS and CENMS, but live within the STEM Magnet School Boundary and want to participate in the STEM Magnet Theme, must submit a Magnet Student Application  before the January 20th deadline.  Applicants will be entered into a lottery style selection process.  Families will be notified through email on February 10, 2017.

The order in which applications are received will not impact the lottery selection process.

Agreement of Understanding

By submitting a magnet application, I acknowledge my understanding of the following conditions for this application:

THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF THIS APPLICATION IS JANUARY 20, 2017.

Applications DO NOT guarantee placement.

Incomplete and/or inaccurate information may prevent an application from being processed.

Offers of acceptance will be emailed.

Failure to respond to an offer of acceptance by the specified deadline will be interpreted as a parent/guardian decline of program acceptance and the seat will be offered to another student.

Priority preference will be given to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Students attending a magnet theme that is offered at the next level of promotion (5th grade to 6th grade; 8th grade to 9th grade).
  • A student who is a sibling of an accepted student and will attend the magnet theme school site at the same time as the accepted student.
  • Parent is employed by the District School Board of Pasco County

 

Directions:

  1. Only one (1) online application per student will be accepted.  Duplicates or revisions CANNOT be accepted.  There are no paper applications.  If you do not have access to a computer, schools make them available during school hours and there are usually opportunities for access at public libraries.
  2. Please complete all required areas.  Failure to complete all sections may result in the application not being processed.
  3. Families applying for more than one (1) child to a magnet school must have a separate application for each student (even though the application asks for sibling names, this does not constitute an application for those siblings listed).  Sibling(s) must reside in the same household as the student who is applying, or documentation of joint custody must be provided.  Siblings who meet eligibility requirements will be accepted based upon the availability of open seats in the grade level for which the student is applying.

 

Out-of-District Applications:

Requests to attend a Pasco County school (including applicants for STEM Magnet Theme Middle Schools), if you live in another county, require a release from your HOME county.  The approved release must be received within the Open Enrollment period. A new Florida statute that goes into effect for the 2017-2018 school year does not allow out of district students to displace in district residents.

Announcement of all student selections into magnet themed programs, including the Land O' Lakes High School/Gulf High School International Baccalaureate programs and the Pasco High School/Pasco Middle School Cambridge programs, will take place on February 10, 2017.
