What Is Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to make changes to your current benefit election and to review which family members you are including on your health plans.  During open enrollment, you may choose to:

  1. Start coverage or enroll in a new benefit plan;
  2. Change from one plan to another, if that option is available; or
  3. Drop coverage completely.

Changes you request during open enrollment will take effect January 1. The plan year begins on January 1 and continues through December 31. Benefit elections made during Open Enrollment are generally binding for the entire plan year. You may not make any changes until next year’s Open Enrollment period unless you have experienced a qualifying change in status event (e.g., marriage, birth, adoption, etc.) and notify Employee Benefits, Assistance and Risk Management of such a change within 30 days from the date of the qualifying event.

What information will I receive?
Prior to the open enrollment start date, typically early October, you will receive weekly benefit updates containing important information about the upcoming enrollment.  You will also receive an Enrollment Quick Reference Guide for the upcoming plan year. This guide is a valuable reference tool for use throughout the plan year.

When is Open Enrollment?
Open enrollment happens on an annual basis, usually during the month of October or November.

Review Your Options and Make Your Choices

  1. Review the Quick Reference Guide for brief summaries of the benefits and highlights of changes for next year.
  2. During open enrollment, you may sit with an onsite enrollment representative or contact the Sunbelt Call Center at (800) 822-8045 if you need to ask detailed questions about how a certain procedure or condition would be covered.
  3. Log into the http://www.MyPascoDSBBenefits.com website to review your current elections and make changes for the new plan year.
  4.

A Message from Mary Tillman

The staff in EBARM wants all employees to be healthy, in mind and body, so they can be ready everyday to do their best for our children. Remember as you access health services that the District is self-insured for all medical, pharmacy and mental health services. Therefore, spend wisely, whenever you can use generics, see a primary care doctor instead of a specialist.

Also, take care of yourself, lose weight if you need to, stop smoking, take your medications as prescribed, and get some exercise. This is all good for your mind, body and wallet.
