Students Showcase Aviation & Robotics Skills for Legislators
Land O’ Lakes, FL – (September 29, 2015) – Senator John Legg and Representatives Danny Burgess and Amanda Murphy joined Pasco Superintendent Kurt Browning and Pasco County School Board Members Allen Altman, Cynthia Armstrong, Alison Crumbley, Joanne Hurley, and Steve Luikart for a tour of the Tampa Bay Regional Aeronautics Academy at Sunlake High School today.
The tour included a visit to the flight simulator classroom, where students from Sunlake were joined by a student from Rushe Middle School and three students from Woodland Elementary School who all demonstrated their mapping and flying skills. Elementary and middle schools in the Sunlake, Hudson, and Zephyrhills high school feeder patterns received flight simulators to provide students with the STEM education experience that will prepare them for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University dual enrollment program at the high schools.
The next stop was the robotics classroom, where students worked on their VEX Robotics competition robot. They also demoed a robot that responds to voice commands, including Rep. Burgess’s instruction to perform martial arts moves.
The tour ended with FlyMotion co-founders and academy partners Ryan English and David Stratchko demonstrating the drone technology they are using with academy students.
