River Ridge High School Opens Engineering Academy

The District School Board of Pasco County is delighted to announce the Grand Opening of River Ridge High School’s Engineering Certified Career Academy.  This exciting new Academy allows students the opportunity to gain the tools needed to succeed in high skill/high wage careers within the emerging field of Engineering along with post-secondary credit.  The Academy features a partnership with Project Lead the Way (PLTW), which is a non-profit organization that forms partnerships with public schools, institutions of higher education and the private sector to increase the quality and quantity of engineers and engineering technologists prepared to meet the challenges of the workforce.  The Academy will offer industry-recognized certification in AutoDesk, MSSC (Manufacturing Skill Standard Certification) and LabVIEW (National Instruments).

“Students will gain cutting-edge skills, real-life experience and valuable certification that will prove a competitive advantage as they enter the fast-paced climate of the engineering profession,” says Principal Maria Swanson.  “Our active business partners have been working to ensure that the comprehensive program will prepare students for success within the global and regional marketplace.  This is an amazing opportunity for tomorrow’s leaders and I encourage all parents, students and members of our community to participate in the Grand Opening of what will become a transformational program at our school,” she added.

Anyone interested in learning more about the program and/or how to become involved is encouraged to attend.  Details are as follows:
