Pasco eSchool and Teacher Honored

Land O’ Lakes, FL – (July 3, 2018) – Pasco eSchool and one of its teachers have been recognized as the best at what they do.
Pasco eSchool was named Florida Virtual School 2017-2018 large district Franchise of the Year and American Sign Language teacher Nancy Barbara was named Canvas National Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Pasco eSchool is a franchise of Florida Virtual School, offering K-12 instruction online.   For students in K-5, Pasco eSchool offers free enrollment in a full-year program featuring the best of tradition and innovation in education. Students and Learning Guides receive instructional oversight by highly qualified teachers, and apply the latest technology for online learning.  For 6th through 12th grade instruction, students may enroll in Pasco eSchool as part-time or full-time participants. Public/charter school, private school, home education, and students new to Pasco County are eligible to apply.

According to Pasco eSchool principal Joanne Glenn, Pasco eSchool was recognized based on the school’s timely, high-rated quality assurance classroom audits, compliance with FLVS academic integrity protocol and procedures and teacher training requirements, their strong partnership with FLVS, and their pursuit of excellence.

Nancy Barbara has worked for Pasco County Schools since July 2015.  She serves as the team leader for the Pasco eSchool American Sign Language department; and wrote ASL courses to provide another language option for the new Pine View Middle School International Baccalaureate-Middle Years Program.

Ms. Barbara was nominated by a colleague and was selected based on her success preparing students for college and careers, improved academic achievement for at-risk students, and her classroom engagement.  She receives a complimentary registration code to the Canvas annual meeting (InstructureCon 2018, July 24 to July 26), recognition at the meeting, a Nearpod classroom license, and other recognition and prizes.
