Dade City Police Department to Host First Ever Summer Shop with a Cop

Who: Dade City Youth Council, Dade City Police Department, Wal-Mart, and east Pasco students

What: Summer Shop with a Cop

When: 2 p.m., Friday, August 10

Where: Dade City Police Department, 38030 Meridian Ave, Dade City, FL 33525

Why: This new program for 2018 involves partnerships between Wal-Mart, Dade City Youth Council, and Dade City Police Department. This activity will give students an opportunity to build strong relationships with Dade City Youth Council and Dade City Police Department members while shopping for back-to-school clothes.

How: A total of 18 students from Pasco Elementary, R.B. Cox Elementary, and Pasco Middle schools have been identified by their schools to attend this event. The students will meet at the Dade City Police Department to be paired with a Youth Council member and go shopping at Dade City Wal-Mart for back-to-school clothing. Woodland Elementary to Showcase Renovations and Additions

Who: CLARIFICATION – This tour is for the Superintendent, Board Members and staff

What: Tour of renovations

When: 10 a.m., Friday, August 3

Where: Woodland Elementary School, 38203 Henry Drive, Zephyrhills

Why: On November 6, 2012, voters approved the continuation of the Penny for Pasco Surtax for another ten years. The renewal was supported by 70 percent of the voters in Pasco County. Pasco County Schools receives 45 percent of the proceeds.

How: The media is invited to join the Superintendent and Board Members to view the expanded parent drop off loop and additional paved parking for 100+ vehicles. They also will see a new and expanded administration suite, renovated kitchen/cafeteria and multi-purpose room (with stage), and 12 additional classrooms, a new art room, and two new music rooms.

Pasco County Middle School Orientation Schedules

Land O’ Lakes, FL – (July 30, 2018) – Pasco County students return to school on Monday, August 13, and our middle schools are preparing them with orientations on August 2:

Bayonet Point Middle, 11125 Little Road, New Port Richey: Sixth grade academy orientation, 8 a.m. to noon.

Centennial Middle, 38505 Centennial Road, Dade City:  STEM Learner Active Technology Infused Classroom (LATIC) Academy, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Breakfast and lunch provided. Students will learn their way around campus and engage in STEM/LATIC culture and activities.

Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd., Land O' Lakes: Sixth grade university, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., $10, includes lunch.  Sign-up is first come, first served.

Cypress Creek Middle, 8701 Old Pasco Road, Wesley Chapel: Howlapalooza, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will be provided with lunch from McDonalds.  Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes to tour the campus and engage in outdoor activities.

Gulf Middle, 6419 Louisiana Ave., New Port Richey: Sixth grade orientation 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Students will be able to meet their teachers, tour the school, and get their schedules and bus passes.

Paul R. Smith Middle, 1410 Sweetbriar Dr., Holiday: Sixth grade orientation, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd., Land O' Lakes: "All Paws In," 9 a.m. to noon, for incoming sixth graders and new students. Students and parents will attend separate interactive sessions to learn more about the IB Middle Years Program and to assist in making the transition into middle school.  After students and parents attend all sessions, students will receive their 2018-19 school year schedule.

River Ridge Middle, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey: "Storm the Castle," 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for sixth graders and students new to the school.  There will be a Parent University session for sixth grade parents from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the theater.  Students who attend will receive their schedule early and do not need to attend the secondary school's orientation day on August 7.
 
Seven Springs Middle, 2441 Little Road, New Port Richey: "Welcome to the Jungle" sixth grade orientation and open house, 8 a.m. to noon. Schedules can be picked up in the cafeteria and myStudent parent sessions will take place in the media center throughout the day. Students who attend will receive their schedule, be given a free SSMS T-Shirt, and will not need to attend the Secondary Registration Day on Aug. 7.

Weightman Middle, 30649 Wells Road, Wesley Chapel: ROAR Camp, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pasco School Safety Guards Graduation Ceremony

Who: Pasco County school safety guards, Superintendent Kurt Browning, School Board members, Pasco Sheriff’s Col. Jeffrey Harrington, Director of Safety & Security Chris Stowe, and elected officials

What: School Safety Guard Graduation Ceremony

When: 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 30

Why: The guards will receive certificates for completing the Pasco Sheriff’s Office Argus Academy training.

How: Superintendent Kurt Browning, PSO Capt. Bill Davis, and Pasco Schools Director of Safety and Security Chris Stowe will recognize the safety guards who have completed training. Guards began training on June 4, with classroom lessons on safety procedures, deadly force, first aid, diversity, and defensive tactics. That was followed by two weeks of shooting range instruction and aggressive response to an active threat. Guards also completed psychological, physical, and drug testing. School safety guards are assigned to Pasco elementary schools while school resource officers will continue to staff secondary schools.

School Board Member Beaudoin Schedules Listening Session

Land O’ Lakes, FL – (July 23, 2018) – Colleen Beaudoin, Pasco County School Board Member from Land O’ Lakes, will hold a listening session in the Denham Oaks Elementary School media center on Wednesday, July 25, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
           
Mrs. Beaudoin, who represents District 2 on the Pasco School Board, welcomes citizens who are interested in sharing their thoughts and ideas with regard to public school operations.
           
Denham Oaks Elementary is located at 1422 Oak Grove Boulevard, in Lutz.
