A MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT BROWNING
I don’t usually appeal directly to you, but I feel very strongly about this issue. We have six high-needs schools (CES, GHES, GSES, HES, LES, and PES) that are under close scrutiny by the state and federal governments as they work toward academic improvement.
I’m appealing to your desire to make a difference in children’s lives. These aren’t just any children; they are the ones who may not have support at home, or even hot water and warm meals. They need teachers who are at the top of their game, who want to improve their lives, and who can help put their schools back on track for success. I should emphasize that I know that there are wonderful teachers at these schools who have all the qualities we are seeking in new teachers. We just need more teachers in these kids’ classrooms who are the best qualified and most passionate about seeing them succeed.
You may be very comfortable at a great school with tremendous parental involvement and outstanding administrative support. If you’re a high quality teacher who is looking to make a difference, I’m asking you to consider getting out of that comfort zone and taking a chance where the children need you more. It is hard work, but well worth the extra effort. These students need a teacher who will go above and beyond, someone who makes sure every child's basic needs are met, a caring educator who craves constant learning for herself and her students. At any one of these schools, you’ll have an amazing administrative team, more student services support, ongoing collegial coaching, and cutting edge professional development.
Please take a moment to view the videos posted on the page below, and give some thought to making a move to where you can really make a difference in children’s lives. We are holding job fairs on Tuesday, May 3, at Pasco Middle School, and on Thursday, May 5, at Chasco Middle School.
Thank you for all you do for the children of Pasco County.
Kurt S. Browning
